Searching Opposing Viewpoints

There's more than one way to find the information you need

in Opposing Viewpoints. Here are your choices:

1   Basic Search by Popular Topic

On the basic search page,  click on a topic for quick results.

Basic Search by Subject, Keyword, or the Entire Document.

  • Subject Search: For common topics (the popular topic links will give you subject search results). This is the most narrow search as it searches a listing of subject terms.
  • Keyword Search: For less common terms, such as proper nouns.
  • Entire Document Search: This is the broadest search as it searches the entire article for a word/phrase match. Useful for abstract topics or new terminology.

3  Subject Guide Search

Use this search when you want to browse a list of subject terms (the terms

that describe what the article is about). Type in the subject word(s) in the search

field and click on "Search." The result list will include all subject terms that match

your search query along with their respective subdivisions and related

     subjects.

4  Publication Search

This is useful when you want to browse the contents of a particular

publication, such as the articles in an Opposing Viewpoints book.

5  Advanced Search

This is useful when you want to:

  • Look for a specific article, when you already know the title, publication or author
  • Locate all articles by a specific author or journalist
  • Retrieve all articles from a specific journal
  • Combine your terms will Boolean operators and index fields
